My Answers Suck asked:
I have very sensitive skin & get acne easily & sugar is one thing that triggers a break out. I want to buy a juicer but heard that once you juice for some reason there is as much sugar in the juice as in pop….is there any way to juice but not create all that sugar??

All fruit contains sugar, but not quite as much as fizzy drinks. You can’t create extra sugar just by juicing. But it’s a different kind of sugar - fructose rather than glucose or sucrose, which gets broken down by different enzymes in your body, so may not have the same effect on you as pop does. If you can eat fruit usually, you’ll be fine with juice. Or try vegetable juices? I had one made of carrot and ginger with a tiny bit of orange. Oddly nice.
I’d also recommend avoiding bacon like the plague if you get acne easily!
the first post is absolutely correct. When people say there is so much sugar in fruit juice, it is because of the sucrose, and most people drink 10 oz or so of juice. A correct serving size is 6 oz. Juice is a simple carb, and will spike your insulin levels, just like a candy bar would. It is better to eat the whole fruit, because you get more nutrients, and all important fiber. That being said, if you want to stabilize your blood sugar and give yourself more energy, go ahead and drink 6 oz of juice, but be sure to pair it with a protein. Egg/egg whites, string cheese, cottage cheese, ham, spam, a few slices deli turkey, anything really that has at least 7 grams of protein and it will slow down digestion of the simple carbs and keep your energy running and metabolism burning better.
That isn’t true usually fruit will contain less sugar than soda pops, it is the same thing but in liquid form so any juicer is fine. The sugar used is of course called fructose it isn’t glucose, maltrose, or dextrose it is a very natural state of sugar and as long as you don’t eat or drink too much fruit or fruit juices, you should be fine.
All fruit contains sugar. But it’s a natural form of sugar called fructose. It’s not the refined crap that you find in pop.
Contrary to what you may have been told, not all sugars are bad for you.
