Healthy Smoothie Recipes are great for a ‘pick me up’ after a run or a jog. But, it is most important you know what you are drinking in that smoothie. A lot of smoothies you buy are loaded with sugar which isn’t going to your best choice. Natural sugar is going to be your best choice so be sure to ask your vendor what they are putting into your smoothie and try to stay away from artificial ingredients. Caffiene loaded coffee smoothies are very popular but again, that isn’t going to be your best choice after a workout. It might taste good but it won’t replenish your body after a good run.
To create healthy smoothie recipes, it is best you make your own. It is easy to do - you need a good protein, whey, or soy and tofu, which automatically takes on the taste of whatever it is combined with. Next, fruit and berries - the darkest ones are the healthiest ones….is the word around town. And the fresher they are, the tastier they are.
The next item on the list for a healthy smoothie recipe, is a choice blender - there again, there are so many on the market. I always check out Consumer Lists to choose, but any good blender will run around $30 to $50. You will want one that has a setting for ice chopping. And the one that says it will make smoothies. Cutting ice is hard on the machine so you may have to pay more than planned to get a good one that will stand up to the abuse.
The next item on the list for a healthy smoothie recipe is to make your choice about what fruits and berries you want in your smoothie. Let us say blackberries, blueberries and raspberries and a banana. So, the ice is chopped, add freshly washed healthy berries, and a peeled banana. Also, add your whey which should contain a high amount of protein, then your tofu, soy, or milk. You may add flax seed oil or other oils if you wish. Now blend on high until completely smooth. This is a perfect healthy smoothie recipe, and it is home made - the best kind!

Kathie K asked: Hi everyone:)
I recently got a juicer and have been juicing fruit & veges madly! But I always **** throwing away such a huge amount of dry pulp once everything has been juiced. I am wondering if there is some great recipe out there involving perhaps pastry or something, whereby you can use all these remains?
I was thinking perhaps vegetable pasties, with some pastry and grated cheese mixed through for the veges, and perhaps some sort of muffin or cake with the fruit pulp?
Any recipes or anything would be great! I am hoping there is somebody out there who has had the same thought as me and has come up with a creative way to use these scraps
Thank you so much in advance!!
Thanks a lot everyone!! Great suggestions

Have you heard about coconut oil yet? People are adding coconut oil to their diets and are getting incredible results. They are losing weight, getting more energy, and getting healthier.
Coconut oil is safe to use, and does not turn to fat in your body. It raises the metabolism, so you burn more fat and have more energy. It does not increase your cholesterol, but actually helps lower it. Coconut oil is wonderful diet addition for just about everyone.
Coconut oil is full of healthy benefits. Next to mother’s milk, it is nature’s highest source of medium chain fatty acids (MTC’s), which raise the body’s metabolism, leading to weight loss. It has fatty acids such as lauric acid and monoglycerides, similar to mother’s ****** milk.
When lauric acid is consumed in the body, whether through mother’s milk or coconut oil, it enhances the immune system to help the body fight infections, diseases, bad bacteria and yeast invasions. Lauric aid is known to be anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial.
Coconut oil raises the metabolism, which helps people who are trying to lose weight and people suffering from thyroid problems. Coconut stabilizes the blood sugar levels, helping with diabetes. It also protects the heart cells from damage.
Coconut oil helps relieve the symptoms of menopause, and pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS). Many women who suffer the effects of PMS have found the symptoms lessened when coconut oil was consumed often in their diet.
Coconut oil does not raise cholesterol. Studies have shown that people who use coconut oil have lower cholesterol than those who do not, even when the people consuming coconut also eat other high cholesterol foods like eggs and meat.
Coconut oil smells good, tastes pleasant and is so good for our bodies that some people consume it straight, by the tablespoon, and use it in place of other oils on their salads. Many people also use it as an ingredient when juicing or making smoothies.
If all this good news isn’t enough, coconut oil one of the best things you can apply directly on your skin and hair. It not only gives temporary relief to skin problems like rashes, but it aids in healing and restoring skin to a younger appearance. It has also been known to help with people who suffer from yeast infections in the skin, and there is solid research that shows the MCTs in coconut oil do overcome yeast infections. Coconut oil also makes an excellent massage oil.

It can be canned or freezer jam but it must be like the Smuckers All Fruit Jams are, where they use pear juice to replace the sugar or artificial sweeteners. Also, I need a complete recipe please. I’ve searched the web several times and found nothing so far. Please do not give jelly recipes, but some jam recipes allow you to substitute different fruits for the same recipe so if you have one that is for a berry jam like strawberry, I’m sure it would work. Thank you.

In addition to the skin, which is an important source of fiber in most fruits, the pulpy part of the fruit is also a source of fiber (and other nutrients). Orange juice makes a good example of the health difference when you focus on the issue of its pulp. The white pulpy part of the orange is the primary source of its flavonoids. The juicy orange-colored sections of the orange contain most of its vitamin C. In the body, flavonoids and vitamin C often work together, and support health through their interaction. When the pulpy white part of the orange is removed in the processing of orange juice, the flavonoids in the orange are lost in the process. This loss of flavonoids is one of the many reasons for eating the orange in its whole food form (even if you only end up eating a little bit of the white pulpy part).
Although many commercial products will say “pulp added” on their labels, the “pulp added” many not even be the original pulp found in the whole fruit, and it is highly unlikely to be added back in the amount removed.
The best way to consume fruit is raw, with its skin or with the skin peeled off on an empty stomach or 20 minutes before other meals. If you’re not such a fruit-eater and want to have more from the good stuff, the best way to start eating fruit is to squeeze fruit juices. In this way you can get used to fruit and after drinking juices for a while you’ll see that your appetite to have raw fruits will increase.
If you are in the possession of a fruit press you can squeeze the citrus fruits. Real fruit lovers also have a blender so they can make mixes of all types of fruit. A juice-centrifuge easily extracts the juice out of all fruits and many vegetables and is in our opinion for the more extreme squeezers who also want to drink vegetable juices. It is not very practical in use (a lot of cleaning) and for squeezing almost any type of fruit a fruit press and a blender will do.
“Richly colored juices are your best choice,” Kulze says, and advises that when selecting a juice, you choose one where you can see sediment at the bottom of the bottle. “That means the skin has been used in making the juice,” she explains. “The skin of any fruit is where you find the highest concentration of beneficial properties.” (Make sure you shake the bottle vigorously before pouring so you get some of that sediment in your serving, says Kulze.)
Juices from root vegetables like beetroot, carrot, onion, potato and radish. Generally speaking, fruit juices stir up toxins and acids in the body, thereby stimulating the eliminative processes. Vegetable juices, on the other hand, soothe the jaded nerves and work in a much milder manner. They carry away toxic matter in a gentle way. Owing to their differing actions fruit and vegetable juices should not be used at the same time or mixed together. It is desirable to use juices individually. In any case when juice fasting not more than three juices should be used in any one mixture.
